Data Loss

So BarkWeb CPHost BarkWeb or whatever it was called by the end had offered a lifetime hosting deal via AppSumo for $24 (or maybe more, recollection escapes me). The events that followed are surely a sign of why you shouldn’t trust lifetime deals for a service. A slap-dash transition from one server to the next ended with some sort of disaster due to rain and total data loss. I did take a backup before this happened but did not think to format it so I could restore it easily; what follows is an attempt to bring that back online without too much hassle on my end.

A Pandemic (June 12, 2021)

I’m not sure exactly how I\’ll remember 2020. If 2008 is any indication, I\’ll remember the good more than the bad.

So a few things I learned, just to document:

  1. COVID testing is logistically intensive
  2. PowerBI is awesome
  3. There is nothing you can\’t figure out using google
  4. Pandemics are rough.
